Two cool websites:

People’s Choice. Vitaly Komar and Alex Melamid did a professional market research study to determine the likes and dislikes of US citizens when it came to paintings. It was determined that US Americans like the color blue, landscapes, wildlife, groups of people, and historical figures. They then made a painting reflecting all of these things (thus, George Washington). They then repeated this experiment in thirteen other countries. The results? Pretty much the same everywhere. Except the Netherlands. And then they tackled music. (Discovered through act two of episode #88 of This American Life, “Numbers.” I know, I’m a broken record.)

Physick. I think I might start collecting medical antiques now. Lithotrites? Ether inhalers? Leech jars? I’m so there.
